Alba is a city in Wood County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,255 at the 2010 census. Alba is located in northeastern Wood County, on Farm Road 1799 northwest of Mineola and northeast of Quitman, the county seat. Lake Fork Reservoir is located 8 miles to the south.
Alba was founded in 1873 as a stop on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad; it was known as Smithville until 1884. The community was named for Alba M. Rains, who donated land for the railroad right-of-way and a townsite.
